My friendship with Wes started in the third grade. He lived in a tan brick house on the SW corner of Willis and So 20th, and he had a collie named Pat. He was my first real friend that was a boy outside a church setting.  When I spoke with him a few years ago, he was the same polite guy he was in high school and college and offered to buy me a cup of coffee if I’d stop by the next time I was in Lubbock. Handsome, reliable, trustworthy - a solid guy. Good memories.

I only knew Wes Hallmark by association in high school. I remember him as a likable guy!

I am sorry to see that he passed away in 2018.

The reason I post here is I watched a 3-part YouTube kart racing historical video on location at Buffalo Springs Lake near Lubbock, Texas. I raced there many times, so I watched the videos to the end. In the credits it reads "Video by Wes Hallmark".

I had no idea if it was the same Wes Hallmark, so I logged in here to read that he went to Texas Tech after high school and then settled in Lubbock for good. I also see that he was involved in motor racing through Toyota. From that data, I assume it was he who recorded these videos.

Here is the first of the 3 videos:
