Alan was such a fun loving person.  I remember how proud he was of his mustang and cycle.   I learned the hard way not to accept a ride from him on his cycle while wearing curlers (Girls, remember the orange juice cans we used before curling irons were invented?) He  chose that particular moment to show me how it felt to travel on the back of it at speeds in excess of 110 mph.   Man, what a ride.....

I will never forget our early teenage days of hanging out in my neighborhood and the many ping- pong championship games won and lost in my garage.  And the time we went to Abilene State Park with his mom driving and Alan and I rode in the back of the pickup with his hound (a very stupid dog) that kept jumping out of the truck bed and dangling in the gushing wind while we frantically kept pulling him back in by the collar and leash.

He will never know how much we (Mike and I) treasure the memory of our first Christmas together and how heartwarming to see these burly guys (Alan, John Doss, Larry McMillan, and Kim Withrow) bringing us a little Christmas tree, colorful hand made paper ring decoration and the stringed popcorn garland to our one room apartment.

You are missed

Pam

I still remember vividly receiving the call that Alan had been killed in a car wreck the previous night in 1977.  We were very close friends and he's the guy that persuaded me to come to Aggieland when I returned to school from my military stint in Europe.  I was honored to serve as head pallbearer that very cold day in Abilene.  He was dating Maureen Cuningham from Cooper (class of 71?), who was living next door to my future wife.  Yes, I cherish my much too brief few years with ol Swag.
